Course Overview
‘On Set’ will demystify the often intimidating technical process of performing on set. In this four week course you will learn exactly what happens after you land a role in a TV Series or Serial. You will also get the opportunity to experience shooting and performing scenes with a working Director.
Course Outline
The course will cover all aspects of working on a professional set and how to get the most out of each experience. Classes will explore the following areas:
- Technicalities – The step by step process of shooting a scene.
- Terminology – What does it all mean and who does what.
- Set Etiquette – What to say, and to whom, and when.
- Creative Space – And how to get it on a busy set.
- Tips and Tricks – Insider knowledge on how we get ‘that shot’.
- TV and Film scripts for auditions.
Course Outcomes
After this course, you will be equipped to step onto any set with confidence and a greater understanding of the filming process. This will help you to:
- Deliver better performances with fewer takes.
- Understand all the roles on set and how that makes you a better actor.
- Be cool calm and collected when things change ( and they always do!)
- Enjoy the creative collaboration on set and do your best work.

How To Pay & Instalment Option: The easiest way to pay is by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) using the bank details on the invoice (please quote the invoice number in the transfer information), or by simply clicking the ‘pay online’ link also on the invoice (bank fees apply). You will be email an invoice upon acceptance into the program. Payment is due no later than the due date stated on the invoice, however if you would like to pay in instalments please call or email the office to arrange the dates and amounts you will pay. Please note full payment of the course is due by the time the course finishes. You can start payment instalments at anytime upon receipt of the invoice.
About Jovita O’Shaughnessy
Director Jovita O’Shaughnessy has a long track record in television drama and most recently wrapped My Life is Murder starring Lucy Lawless, for CJZ Productions and Network Ten where it screened in 2019. She previously directed the Fremantle Media drama Wonderland for the same Network. Jovita has directed hundreds of hours of fast turn around television and one-hour dramas, building a strong foundation of production experience along the way. She is the proud recipient of an ADG award for Best Direction in a Serial 2012.
