Course Overview
The HubStudio is thrilled to have award winning acting coach and voice teacher Felicity Jurd teach this comprehensive eight-week voice workshop for professional working actors.
This course is broken down into five main areas of discovery. Connecting your sound to the truth for objective & action, understanding vocal safety, staying on the breath for connection to text, impact with tone & variety not just volume, advanced resonator & muscular work to develop vocal strength and depth whilst using the concept of ease & flow.

To connect the breath to the line – Why good acting starts with good breath connection
- Breath work – learning styles to enhance sound, to connect, to relax and to energise

- Increasing volume – Accessing your resonators with minimal effort for maximum sound
- Muscular work – How To Find Your Vocal agility for complex text
- Deepening connection to language – Content & Structure of the writer
- Releasing the tongue – How To Use Muscular release to access more forward placement and clarity.
- Applied voice work – Rehearsal Session & Vocal notes on prepared text

Course Outcomes
This series will cover techniques that create a connected voice as a tool for enhanced pursuit of objectives and character development. A selection of general outcomes are;
- Use a more authentic & truthful voice in all your roles
- Personalised physical vocal warm ups in order to connect to text and objectives for a given role
- Learning to release tension in the body that directly impacts freedom for resonance
- Enjoy greater ease and flow in vocal delivery in all styles
- Greater body awareness and control to increase sound level safely
- Use structure of writing & language to help you connect vocally
- Physical vocal techniques for different styles of writing to enhance vocal connection

About Felicity Jurd
Felicity is an award winning teacher with 27 years teaching experience which has crossed acting, movement, dance and voice for actors & corporate both in Australia & UK. A teacher trained graduate of the Atlantic Theater Company in New York, she also lived in UK for 9 years where she worked extensively as a voice over artist and appeared in many TV commercials. She is currently on staff as an acting & voice coach at ISA, NIDA, ACA, TDP, AIM and has coached for many more including atyp (2000 – 2006), Conservatorium of Music, MLC Burwood, CTA (UK) & Central School of Ballet (UK), SAA (Sydney). Production coaching credits include; Blood Wedding (UTS), Zoo Story (UTS), Random & Whacky, Lion King AU & Olivia Lee’s Comedy Show.
